The rally, focused on regularity and consumption efficiency, will be held on open roads and cover a route of 465 km through Trentino, South Tyrol, and Veneto. It includes 19 special stages totaling 250 km. Participants, coming from 12 different countries, will compete by maintaining average speed and consumption targets with high precision, using unmodified electric vehicles meant for everyday use.
The event will kick off on Friday, November 15, with participants gathering in Piazza del Municipio, which will host the EDGT Charge-Park—a dedicated area where electric cars can “refuel” using renewable energy sources. After technical checks, the rally will officially start on Saturday, November 16, with the first car taking off at 9 a.m.
The final leg on Sunday, November 17, will see the first car crossing the finish line at 4 p.m. in the center of Fiera di Primiero. The online publication of the final ranking will follow within 90 minutes after the last car finishes, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Palazzo delle Miniere.
Fiorenzo Dalmeri, President of the Automobile Club of Trento, emphasized that the Trentino stage will conclude a series of races held in multiple countries, including Sweden, Spain, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Portugal, Belgium, Iceland, Switzerland, and Monaco. The event is co-organized by Mario Montanucci Pignatelli, coordinator of the RaceBioConcept Team – BioDrive Academy, who highlights that any driver can participate, as the race is open to everyone willing to navigate using a Road-Book, even without professional racing experience.
The Route and Highlights
The scenic route will take drivers from Primiero San Martino di Castrozza to Ortisei in South Tyrol, with checkpoints in picturesque locations across the Dolomites. Competitors must follow the specified average speeds and minimize energy consumption, which will be monitored with telemetry down to a tenth of a kWh, ensuring fairness based on each vehicle’s official WLTP consumption ratings.
Beyond Racing: Exhibitions and Sustainability Initiatives
The center of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza will also serve as a hub for exhibitions. Spectators can visit the Charge-Park to see electric cars up close on Friday afternoons and Sunday after the race concludes. The event, with the support of Bridgestone, SARA Assicurazioni, and local sponsors, aims to promote sustainable mobility and green energy solutions.
In line with its sustainability mission, the event will have a positive impact on the local area through a collaboration with Impatto Positivo® and Regusto®, enabling the distribution of 14,000 meals to non-profits in the circular economy ecosystem.
Awards and Trophies
The winners will be awarded special trophies crafted by local sculptor Renzo Zeni using wood from trees damaged by the 2018 Vaia storm and infested by bark beetles. These trophies symbolize both the natural beauty of the Dolomites and the challenges posed by climate change, underscoring the event’s commitment to raising environmental awareness.
The ECOdolomitesGT, organized by the Automobile Club of Trento and the RaceBioConcept – BioDrive Academy, is part of the eco-rally category, which has been promoting sustainable racing since 2006. This event joins the ranks of other eco-friendly competitions, such as the FIA Formula-E and Extreme E, dedicated to reducing the environmental footprint of motorsports through electric and alternative fuel technologies.
